We still need a tree topper and a tree skirt. Maybe after Christmas I'll hunt for some on clearance.
Eleanor is the official collector and sharer of candy canes. 
For Thanksgiving Andrew's parents came to visit. Andrew has a cousin up in Cleveland so we went up there on Thanksgiving day. We had a yummy meal and they had more pies than I've ever seen for dessert. Eleanor was more interested in playing with their little dog than eating pie. Dogs are her new fascination. When we go on walks and she hears a dog bark she always perks up, points, and mumbles something like "what's that?" in a cute little whisper. Our neighbors also have some dogs and she stares at them out of the window all the time. She even tries to make a barking sound but it sounds more like quacking. It's so fun to watch her learn and grow and see what things catch her interest. I think we all know it wasn't me that taught her to like dogs!
On Friday we visited a local mansion that decorates their house and grounds for Christmas. It was so pretty. (Too bad I couldn't take any pictures inside so I could steal some of their decorating ideas one day)

Here we are in front of a Santa sculpture. I got Eleanor to say HO HO HO once, but she won't do it again.
In other news, Eleanor is a little bit of a TV bug. At least 2 or 3 times a day she'll bring me the Mary Poppins DVD case and try and get me over to the TV with her. We usually just watch it in the morning right when she wakes up. It's a good way for us all to ease into the day :) Don't worry though, we don't watch the whole thing in one sitting. We start at Spoonful of Sugar and she'll watch it for about 20 minutes and then find something else to do. Then later in the day we'll just pick up where we left off. :) She really gets into "Step in Time" and does a funny little dance. Here she is in her element.
(I know, I know, not the best parenting technique, but it works for us)
Other exciting news, Eleanor's crib got recalled. We brought it back to the store and got a $200 credit. Woohoo! We picked out a new one and they were having a special that if you spent more than 100 bucks you got a big stuffed animal for free. Needless to say, our new crib cost more than $100 so we are now the proud owners of a big stuffed puppy dog! Eleanor loves it!
And we love Eleanor!

I love all the pictures of you in the brown vest with Eleanor. You look so pretty and happy. I'm so jealous you are going to new Orleans. I wish I could go so bad. Ice been looking for cheap tix for a while now but no luck.
How cute! It's so much fun watching your kids personalities develop. I love your tree. We put ours up tonight and I let the kids do all the decorating.
first of all, i am a huge fan of fake trees myself (so is ethan). second of all, i love that you ease into your day with a little mary poppins. as a suggestion you could perhaps try the sound of music to catch her attention onto something new. i have watched it at least a dozen times with sophie this last week (especially the puppet show scene) -- it is her new favorite (again). thirdly, eleanor and grace really are kindred spirits -- grace would LOVE a giant stuffed dog to add to her collection.
and finally, are y'all gonna come down and visit us during this christmas season??
The doggie connection is an interesting one. Amy and Jacob both want one when they get the chance. Jacob bought an even bigger stuffed dog at Mallgreens with the $20 he got in the mail a few months ago. He calls it Fluff Pupp and sleeps with it every night. Eleanor will love it!
I love the pictures, I am glad you had family to spend the holidays with! I love your cute tree, I am a big fan of artificial tress, I worry too much about fires and needles everywhere :) I need to get a tree skirt for our tree too! We just love Eleanor, she is so cute and so good and happy every time I see her!
It was great to spend some time with your family over Thanksgiving, and to see Eleanor cruising around the house!

Nice tree! And I love seeing decorations like the ones you saw at the mansion. I'll have to see if there are any hot spots like that around here.
