Dance, Dance

So, I used to love going to regional youth dances when I was younger. It was always fun to see everyone from the Baton Rouge, Slidell, and Denham Springs Stakes and have a bigger selection of guys to dance with. So when I heard about the upcoming young single adult dance I was really excited. It would be just like a youth dance but with young adults, right? Wrong! My first clue should have been when the majority of my singles ward was hesitant to go. But I rallied everyone together and we got a group of about 10 people to go.

Laura, Meagan, and I rode up together to Baton Rouge a little earlier than everyone else because there was a pair of shoes Meagan just had to have from the Mall of Louisiana. Napo warned us that no one "cool" gets to the dance before 9:00, so we gauged our time. After Meagan was done buying her shoes and finding the perfect accessories to go with them, we got a little something to eat then we headed over to the Institute building on LSU's campus. It was still a little early so Meagan took us on a tour of LSU. Finally, at about 9:15 we decided it was time to head on over to the dance. So we walk into the dance and there are probably about 25 people in the whole building. I forgot to mention that the dance had an "Oldies" theme. The music was oldies, and several people were dressed up in poodle skirts or something else relative. There was even one group of girls that dressed up as old people. (I seriously thought they were chaperones until they had a costume contest, and they stood up to be judged. Oops!) So upon first glance, it did not look like the dance was very exciting. But we thought maybe more people would get there and then it would pick up. Luckily, about 15 minutes after we got there the other two cars of our friends from New Orleans arrived, and we were able to make it a little more exciting together. At the peak of the dance there were probably about 50 people all together. The music was pretty lame. It was mostly oldies and practically impossible to dance to, and I like to dance and can usually dance to anything!

Well I solved the problem of lame music when the DJ asked me to dance. I told him to play some better music and sure enough from then on the music was pretty decent. That same guy later asked Laura to dance, and she says he basically talked about me the whole time. He told her that he didn't understand why I wasn't married yet because I was, "so attractive and smart and gonna be rich one day!" I wish I had that effect on all guys!

We ended up staying for about two hours, then it was time for the after party. So a bunch of us headed over to Waffle House. Apparently they go to this Waffle House a lot because our waitress Roxanne knew everybody. I have a short video clip of us at Waffle House, but I think it might be too big to post. So if it doesn't work than I guess a picture will have to suffice.

my poor little arm...

Ok, so this blog was inspired by Aunt Kim. Everyone has been curious about my arm, so I thought I would post some pictures for everyone to see how it's doing almost 3 months later. If you are interested in seeing the before, you can go to Jessica's blog in April. It's pretty gruesome, so I will spare y'all and not post it on my blog.

So, as you can see, it has healed really well! Especially considering the number of stitches and how it looked before the suturing! It is amazing how the human body works! I think I'm just about finished going to physical therapy. I can do most things now, except maybe heavy lifting and quick moving.
A couple of weeks ago, me, Amy, and Laura were helping out at Meagan Appling's restaurant. Well, I was bringing out a plate of breadsticks and spinach dip and when I went to place it on the table, I totally dropped it because I wasn't used to carrying things with my right arm yet! Luckily the hot spincah dip didn't spill; only the breadsticks fell off the plate. I apologized profusely and they soon saw my scar on my arm and forgave me instantly! I guess they felt sorry for me because they left me a huge tip!
Also, I can finally straighten my arm all the way! It was getting to be pretty annoying when I would go to grab something only to find that I couldn't quite reach it! But now when it is straight there is still some tension when I rotate it. So, I've got some exercises to do at home to work on both heavy lifting and straightening! There is also an area between the bottom of the scar and my wrist that feels wierd to touch because it is still numb. They say that feeling should come back within a year.

Here are the stitches on the back of my arm. Luckily there was no immobility there, it just itches sometimes...

Here's a picture that almost captures all of the scars...

Like I said, it is so incredible how resilient Heavenly Father made our bodies! I am so much more aware and appreciative of my healthy body. I am so grateful that we were all protected that day of the accident! Thank you all for your love and concern!

Don't you wish your girlfriend was hot like me...

Ok so for my first real posting I thought I would show y'all a before and after of my lips after using a lip plumper. Jessica and Scott got it for me at some March of Dimes auction thing (I think?) because I babysat Ethan and Grace. Little do they know, they don't owe me anything for watching their cute little kids; it's my pleasure! Anyway, I'd say the lip plumper works pretty well...dont you think? I should probably be their new spokesperson.

my FIRST blog!

ok, so I've joined the world of blogging, and I've realized it's a lot harder than it looks! There is no way mine will ever be as good as Jessica or Emily's ;)
